THYSSENKRUPP DEBUTS MULTI AT NEW GERMAN TEST TOWER
thyssenkrupp hosted a live demonstration of MULTI, the world’s first ropeless, horizontal/vertical elevator system, at its new 246-m-tall test tower in Rottweil, Germany, on June 22. Approximately 200 guests, including developers, architects and engineers, attended. The company also announced its first MULTI customer, OVG Real Estate, which plans to install several of the systems in its “new Berlin landmark,” East Side Tower. Among those in attendance were ELEVATOR WORLD Managing Editor Angela C. Baldwin and Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat Executive Director Antony Wood. Likening it to a “metro system inside a building,” MULTI, according to thyssenkrupp, results in reduced energy consumption, space savings and faster, more efficient travel within buildings.
