IN MEMORIAM: JIM SUNDMAN
Jim Sundman, an integral part of the elevator industry in Florida since the 1970s, passed away on December 21, 2016, at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife, Kim, and brother, Pat. Sundman began his career with Elevator Sales & Service, Inc. (ESSI). He and partner Bob Bryant went on to form International Machine Shop. Sundman was a QEI, retiring from the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 71 in 2007, but continuing to work for International Machine Shop until his death. Friend and colleague Jim Patterson said of Sundman:
"He was a brilliant machinist and go-to resource for hundreds of elevator workers in Florida. He was a metal magician and could fabricate or repair almost anything. He will be missed by many."

VIÑOLY CONDO SHOWCASES NATURE ON MIAMI RIVER
A pair of 65-story condominium towers on the Miami River in Miami are designed by Rafael Viñoly to showcase nature, with a reflective plinth and lavish, landscaped area that includes palm trees and a waterfall, designboom reports. Adding to a growing inventory of luxury condominiums in Miami, One River Point is being developed by KAR Properties and will include a three-story private club and three-story skybridge at floors 56 and 800 ft., respectively. There will be 350 residences, all with their own private terraces. No timeframe was given, but presales are already underway.

BROOKLYN APARTMENT TOWER APPROACHES COMPLETION
A 25-story, 271-ft.-tall apartment tower designed by Handel Architects and developed by TF Cornerstone is nearing completion in Brooklyn, New York, with façade installation underway, New York YIMBY reports. In addition to more than 700 rental apartments, the building is set to have ground- and cellar-level retail within its 734,312 sq. ft. located at the corner of Bond and Livingston streets in downtown Brooklyn.
