VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS DESIGN OF NYC’S CENTRAL PARK TOWER
The principals of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill architecture firm host a new video showcasing the design of New York City’s (NYC) Central Park Tower, a future 1,550-ft.-tall, 137-story skyscraper that will be the tallest residential building in the world, with 179 condominiums boasting amazing views, no matter how high or low above street level, New York YIMBY reports. Also known as Nordstrom tower for the flagship store at its base, Central Park Tower is being developed by Extell Development Co. on “Billionaire’s Row” at 217 West 57th Street. In the slightly more than 1-min. video, the architects highlight how a multilevel podium and “gravity-defying” cantilever on the eastern side help maximize views, and how structural elements are hidden between each unit. Completion is anticipated sometime in 2020.
