KONE TO OUTFIT FINAL TWO MOSCOW CITY SKYSCRAPERS
KONE has been hired to provide the vertical transportation for Neva Towers, the final two towers for Moscow's international business center, Moscow City. Built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards, the mixed-use towers will stand 289 and 337 m tall, and be outfitted with 33 8-mps MiniSpace® and 18 MonoSpace® elevators linked to KONE's destination-control system. Designed by HOK, FXFOWLE and SPEECH of Russia, the structures will house approximately 4,000 people. Renaissance Development is behind the project, expected to be complete in 2020.
ABSTRACTS FOR NORTHAMPTON SYMPOSIUM AVAILABLE
Abstracts of papers to be presented at the Seventh Symposium on Lift & Escalator Technologies, to be held at Highgate House in Northampton, U.K., on September 20-21, have been made available. Registration remains open, with attendees registering before June 30 receiving an early booking discount. Further discounts are available to members of supporting organizations the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, University of Northampton, Lift & Escalator Industry Association and The Institution of Engineering and Technology.
WOODS BAGOT-DESIGNED KODO RISING IN ADELAIDE
Ground was broken recently on the 30-story apartment tower Kodo at 29 Angas Street near Victoria Square in Adelaide, Australia, The Urban Developer reports. Designed by Woods Bagot, the structure is aiming for a late 2018 completion, and features a four-level podium containing parking and resident amenities. The developer is Flagship Property Holdings, which, along with the state government, is offering grants totaling up to AUS$38,000 (US$28,300) to first-time homeowners. Flagship observed that Kodo promises to become "an iconic feature on the Adelaide skyline."
