WORLD’S TALLEST ATRIUM PART OF HADID DESIGN IN BEIJING
Construction of the 46-story, 207-m-tall mixed-use building Leeza SOHO in southwest Beijing, consisting of curvy halves connected by what will be the world's tallest atrium at 190 m, has reached the 20th floor, Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) reports. It is expected to reach its full height in September prior to opening in 2018. The atrium twists as it rises to maximize natural light and maximize views from all floors. Leeza SOHO is the fourth collaboration between SOHO China and ZHA.

ELEVATOR WORKER FATALITY AT FLORIDA HOSPITAL
Authorities are trying to determine how a construction worker died after his body was found by firefighters in an elevator shaft at a hospital in Tallahassee, Florida, on February 17, various news outlets, including USA Today, report. The firefighters rescued three people who were trapped in an elevator stuck between the ground and first floors. Following the rescue, they discovered the body of the man, who was working alone. Officials are trying to determine why he was working in a shaft with an operational elevator.

SUPERTALL RESIDENTIAL TOWER IN SURFERS PARASIDE, AUSTRALIA
Meriton hopes to break ground in June on a 90-story residential tower on the site of the 1960s-era International Beach Resort in Surfers Paradise, Australia, brisbanedevelopment.com reports. Designed by SJB Architects, the structure will contain approximately 570 apartments and boast a three-tiered configuration with colored glass panels. At 290-310 m tall, the building will be among the tallest in the area, joining the Spirit and Q1 towers. An Art Deco-inspired podium with restaurants, pools and amenities is also envisioned.
