I spun for a charity event Casino Night last night. No dance floor and no dancing expecting. But I remembered something Jon Taffer said at Mobile Beat a few years ago. He said (and I'm paraphrasing) "there is no such thing as background music. There is lower volume music but no background music." I channeled that philosophy and strived for a fun, sing alongable set and it worked. Got tons of compliments and gave away a few cards as well. This is a classic rock heavy set which played to the mostly baby boomer crowd.
