Description

Claypot Grooves is a global downtempo journey that echoes with the sensual pulse of longing, memory, and mysticism. Built on a lush bed of hypnotic basslines, organic percussion, dub textures, and ambient global instrumentation, the album unfolds as a modern-day reimagining of Mary Magdalene’s life after Christ - reborn as Magdala, a Paris Ballet dancer and claypot artist navigating the beauty and ache of love in postmodern France.

In the quiet corners of Montmartre, Magdala encounters Michael, an enigmatic Algerian spy operating in the shadows of a fractured world. Once a French national, now a double agent haunted by allegiance and exile, Michael lives a life of danger and silence. Yet when he meets Magdala, time bends. Their connection is immediate—an electric recognition that defies their circumstances.

As war, espionage, and surveillance threaten to pull them apart, the two lovers sustain their bond through a ritual of secret messages. Whenever Magdala leaves her apartment, she places a handwritten note and a single rose inside one of her handmade claypots. When Michael arrives unseen, he answers with his own words, echoing rhythms of longing, percussion, and coded devotion. Sometimes they find each other. Sometimes they don’t. But always, the notes remain.

Blending romance and espionage, ancient divinity and modern resistance, Claypot Grooves becomes a meditation on love’s transience, spiritual awakening, and what it means to carry the memory of someone who may never return. Is he lost forever? Is she holding onto a ghost? Or does love exist beyond space, time, and nation-states - woven instead into clay, rhythm, and silence?

Rooted in Magdala’s spiritual lineage and artistic soul, this album dances between the grid and the flow, the system and the spirit, offering a lush, cinematic soundtrack to a love story lived in the spaces between presence and absence.
