1998 - LOCAL celebrity" Marian Talbot from Roscrea, officially opened the doors of the new Tesco Ireland store in Roscrea at the premises of the former Quinnsworth store. As well as keeping all 47 Quinnsworth staff, the modern upgrade has allowed for more than 10 new jobs, and some with new departments.
2001 - An application was lodged with North Tipperary County Council for the construction of a new Dunnes Stores Supermarket on a portion of the grounds of the former CBS School in Roscrea.
Located on the old Dublin Road, the site is estimated to consist of 2.25 acres. Residents in the area had concerns surrounding this development.
