Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 3rd of September, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh
1980: petrol and oil supplies were under threat because of a work to rule by about 500 tanker drivers, loaders and other employees.
2002: a 10 year old girl threw herself across her father to protect him from a savage beating with a nail studded bat from thugs during a fishing trip.
1996 - One of the largest concrete pours in the history of Thurles took place at the new shopping centre at Slievenamon Road, Thurles. The centre had been the topic of much conversation in Thurles and the surrounding areas as people were trying to figure out who the anchor tenant would be.
2009 - WORKERS at a Coca Cola distribution depot in Tipperary Town whose jobs are under threat due to outsourcing, were calling on the company to sit down and discuss pay and conditions with them ahead of a possible referral of the case to the Labour Relations Commission (LRC).  Four employees whose jobs were identified by the company for outsourcing were joined by more than 30 picketers from other counties in an action taken against the company
That was Atomic Kitten with The Tide Is High – the biggest song on this day in 2002
Onto music news on this day In 1968 After a two week absence, Ringo Starr rejoined The Beatles.
2009 Madonna's Sticky and Sweet world became the highest grossing tour ever for a solo artist tour making $408m (£250m).
And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – actor Charlie Sheen was born in America in 1965 and rapper Redfoo was born in America on this day in 1975 and this is one of his songs.
I'll be back with you tomorrow with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.
