Three Kites
One day I bought a kite
Threw it and ran for my life
Sadly - it fell to ground
Pulled it through the sand
Much like dragging a stone
Broken - it was done
My kite number one
Kite number two was so different
Caught by the wind it was desperate to get away from me
Lifting my feet almost off the ground
Losing my grip I just watched it fly across the sea
That second kite
Just flew away
Watching the weather
Waiting for right conditions
May wait forever
Stalling my own ambitions
Someone tell me what to do
I’ll take a risk I promise to believe again
Believe again
I’ll try again
I’ll try again
I’ll try and try again
Believe again
Believe again
Believe and try again
Here I go again
My very last attempt
I told myself I’d step back in the fold some day again
Bought myself three kites to fly
Kite number one didn’t last as long as it should have done
Bought myself three kites to fly
Kite number two flew away and left me on my own
Bought myself three kites to fly
Kite number three has got to be the one that stays with me
But until then
It stays on the shelf
