Welcome to Full Circle, your Cultural Affairs radio magazine produced by members and Graduates of the First Voice Apprenticeship Program. According to the California Department of Corrections there are a little over 160,000 people incarcerated in the California prison system. Each year as more people are sentenced to prison, thousands are also released. And when folks are released what resources do they have? How are they able to prepare for the outside world? How do they integrate into being a meaningful part of society when so much has changed? On tonight’s show we speak with Yvette J. Williams, founder and executive director of both Back on Track Expungement Services and Back on Track Community Services. Also with us is Ronell Ellis the field operations coordinator for the Reentry Success Center. He is a survivor of the prison industrial complex and has made a successful reentry into society. We also hear from Pat Mims, an alumni of the Prison University Project and another survivor of the PIC who now works for Rubicon about their services.
