Description

I am so grateful to Marc Weidenbaum, the Disquiet Junto, and all of the participants from this year. This project has enriched my life greatly and kept me moving in creativity on a month to month basis. Thank you to each of you for the inspiration you bring to this project week to week.

Here is the timeline for this recording which is a collage of my output in 2015 with five seconds from each calendar month utilized in chronological order:

JAN 0-5 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/back-yard-bird-feeders-010615
FEB 5-10 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/fetch
MAR 10-14 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/galien-river-crows?in=337is/sets/field-recordings
APR 15-20 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/lilly-action-poem-drink-1
MAY 20-25 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/conjunto-tipico-sensacion
JUN 25-30 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/marram-grass
JUL 30-35 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/bassline-seeking-companion-2
AUG 35-40 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/national-tennis-centre-melbourne-australia-1989-disquiet0189-tonelayer
SEP 40-45 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/mwen-pi-fo-pase
OCT 45-50 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/things-of-this-world-disquiet0199-spacecrickets
NOV 50-55 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/they-luv-dats-jugged-fish
DEC 55-60 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/337is/modulars-are-monophonic-slow-motion-time-travel

Each of the individual tracks listed have full production notes if you’re interested in the individual five second clips. A few additional observations:

-This collage accurately splits my activities of six months of field recordings to start out the year

-I am out of compliance with the Junto's instructions in one spot. My Crows recording is only four seconds long to start with so I have a one second gap in my year. I like this moment of silence as it represents the time spent actively listening for something to record

-Followed by a move to more compositional material with “Bassline Seeking Companion 2” which many great people from the Junto remixed and recomposed with

-Both “National Tennis Centre,” and “Things of this World” represent variations on my concept of “Field Recoding” which utilizes some element of a field recording transformed via synthesis
