I haven't discovered a "favorite" chord yet and was stumped for the first few days as to what to use. Then I remembered that the Thoth deck I work with has Qabalistic note associations for the trumps. So I chose cards until I found three from the major arcana and ended up with Adjustment (F#), The Empress (F#), and Art (G#). With two of the same note in my chord, I decided some euro-pop styled octaving was in order so I fired up my Oberheim 2 Voice and banged out the simple 3 step sequence (with a triple ratchet). I then recorded that sequence 3 times into Ableton with no sync or MIDI. I manipulated the 2 Voice's filters during each of the three passes. Finally I recorded a tri-tone of F# clusters by tuning all 6 strings of my guitar to F#. Then I plucked the top three strings in the root F# and occasionally reached for the octave higher. The octaving in this part feels a bit like cheating to me, as I was really only given one F#. But playing the guitar the whole time with just that note was a bit disappointing when I didn't sound like Kevin Shields. The octave doesn't really bring out My Bloody Valentine, but I had more fun playing it.
