Description

Agatha Christie wrote "Witness for the Prosecution" as a short story in 1925 although it was initially entitled, 'Traitor's Hands'. In April 1949 it was converted into a radio play but it was not until 1953 that it was called Witness for the Prosecution when it was adapted into a courtroom drama for the stage.

Christie's motivation for writing "Witness for the Prosecution" can be attributed to her passion for crafting mystery and detective stories. She was one of the most prolific and renowned mystery writers of the 20th century, known for her ability to create intricate plots, memorable characters, and surprising twists.

In "Witness for the Prosecution," Christie was particularly interested in the concept of justice and the idea that even in a court of law, the truth can be elusive and subject to manipulation.
The play delves into themes of deceit, loyalty, and the morality of legal defense, all of which were recurring themes in her works.
