I’m excited to announce my first-ever release of music composed for HipSick performances, offering a glimpse into the sonic world that underscores our work. The Paradise is the first chapter in this series, featuring a collection of 9 tracks I created as part of the HipSick crew. Originally conceived in February 2024 at De Koepels in Rotterdam, this release captures the immersive essence of our performative installation, Funeral Ecstasy – The Paradise.
After countless requests to reconnect with the music of our shows, I’ve re-edited the tracks to enhance their depth and flow for home listening. This soundtrack translates the individual yet collective experience of Funeral Ecstasy – The Paradise into a rich auditory journey, celebrating fleeting moments of beauty and introspection.
Rooted in Rotterdam's alternative rave scene, HipSick has long embraced music and sound design as core components of its performances. As both a DJ in the hardcore techno scene and an audio engineer, I’ve had the opportunity to craft intense, immersive soundscapes for our performances that blur the boundaries between rave and art. With The Paradise, I sought to honor that intersection—melding introspection, euphoria, and the energy of the underground.
ABOUT THE PARADISE
The Paradise invites you to confront the cyclical nature of existence, exploring the transient beauty within each moment. The soundscapes oscillate between celebration and stillness, light and dark, creating a rhythmic flow that mirrors the highs and lows of life. In our live performances, audiences were surrounded by a larger-than-life glowing orb, experiencing something between a rave and a meditative ritual. Now, this soundtrack lets you recreate that moment, transcending time and space for deep introspection.
