Two Ennis natives will be recognised for over 80 years of collective experience to the defence forces at a special ceremony on Sunday.

Major General Adrian Ó'Mhurcú and Fr Paschal Hanrahan will receive Mayoral Awards from Mayor of Ennis Clare-Colleran Molloy tomorrow at 2pm at the Temple Gate Hotel.

Both men have served on peacekeeping missions abroad which included tours of Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Israel, Somalia and Syria.

Fr Pascal Hanrahan who joined the Defence Forces in 1982 and is Head Chaplain says his role was to support soldiers who faced extreme challenges on the battlefields.
