The government is being urged to step in and alleviate the "outrageous" waiting times for GP appointments in Clare. Chair of the Clare branch of the Irish Kidney Association, Dermot Hayes claims he must wait six weeks to be seen, provided there are no cancellations in the meantime. He's required regular doctors visits since the age of 12 and insists prior to now, waiting times have never been longer than five days. Also a member of the Clare Leader Forum, the Ennis native says the situation is "beyond a joke".
