MT.Heads fronted by John Daly (Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar) and Sam Connolly (Drums), the band expands live into a powerful five-piece with Aisling Stephens McGowan (Bass), Feargal McCabe (Lead Guitar), and Callum Byrne (Trumpet). Their sound fuses groove-driven rhythms, infectious melodies, and brass flourishes, creating a unique live energy that sets them apart. As Music Crowns put it, MT.Heads “blend groove-driven rhythms with thought-provoking lyrics and genre-defying soundscapes.”
MT.Heads are carving their own lane in Ireland’s alternative scene, fusing introspective alt-pop with infectious grooves and a brass-tinted live sound. Following the release of their debut EP Windows Turned to Walls, the band have headlined key Dublin venues including Whelan’s and The Workman’s Club, most recently selling out Whelan’s Upstairs, and have been featured in Whelan’s Ones To Watch and the Guinness NYF Music Trail.
The band’s story also includes a viral moment in 2022, when drummer Sam Connolly, dubbed “Sam from Monkstown, joined The Killers onstage in front of 30,000 people at Malahide Castle, earning them widespread attention.
MT.Heads have played major festivals such as Sea Sessions, supported international acts including
Landon Conrath. Opening the year with their new single freezing over, MT.Heads are entering 2026 as one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging alternative acts.
‘Freezing Over’ is a reflective indie rock track built on twangy guitar riffs, driving drums, and a slow build into an anthemic chorus. The song captures the emotional fallout of a night of miscommunication, balancing vulnerability with momentum. Its late-night, wintery atmosphere gives space to introspection while still pushing forward with confidence and clarity.
Blending indie pop and alt rock, the track sits comfortably alongside modern guitar-led indie with a nostalgic edge. Fans of Dominic Fike, The Strokes, and easy life will connect with its honest storytelling and restrained emotional weight. Known for tight performances and crowd-ready sets, the band are steadily establishing themselves as a rising presence in Dublin’s indie scene.
