A potato blight warning comes into effect in Clare today. Met Éireann has issued an environmental advisory for the possibility of potato blight for seven counties including Clare, owing to weather conditions which could lead to the spread of the pathogen. The period of the warning begins at midday today and will conclude at 11:30pm on Wednesday. Feakle-based Chairperson of the Clare Irish Farmers' Assocation, Stephen Walsh, is urging farmers to spray their potatoes early.
