This short podcast series reviews the importance of biosecurity, our commitment to good animal health, and the impact infectious disease may have on a farm, and the industry. Our hope is that each conversation will provide producers with some useful information they can apply on their farm.
Our next discussion takes place with Dr. Robyn Elgie, a dairy veterinarian with Kirkton Bovine Services, which is located in southwestern Ontario. Robyn is also currently the 1st Vice President with the Ontario Association of Bovine Practitioners. She and I sat down to discuss her perspectives on the key pillars of biosecurity, as well as practical approaches for dairy producers to improve biosecurity on the farm, including record keeping, protocol development, vaccination, cleaning and disinfection, and other strategies.
