I wrote this song sometime after December 1, 1982 when the first clinical use of an artificial heart designed for permanent implantation was in the news. My very talented friend Ralph Warchol purchased a quarter inch reel-to-reel 8 channel recorder with which he outfitted his luxurious basement. This song was the first we recorded with his new toy. I sang and played electric guitar. Ralph sang backing vocal and provided the low end with a synthesizer of his. Ralph got the drum track from an LP. The song was longer than the drum track, so we ended it before the last verse got in.
