Description

If memory serves, this is the earliest comedy recording I made after our family moved to Berwyn (yes, Svengoolie's Berwyn) in December of 1970. I play the horror host and my older brother Joseph Lee Roy Mefford (nicknamed Buddy) plays "pet Egor." The churning, tempestuous weather sound has an interesting origin. The 45 rpm recording of "Telstar" by the Tornados had their tune "Jungle Fever" on the B side. Somehow, either by chance or my actual experimentation, the 45 was played on our record player without the 45 adaptor. When played without the adapter, set for 33 speed and adjusted for extreme wobble, the tune took on the swirling sounds one hears on this recording. I was quite pleased when Buddy expressed to me he was surprised by the sonic texture created.
