Dublin 4-piece yerma brought their eclectic electric energy to The Venue last night and held the sadly small audience in rapt attention from first note to the triumphant last, switching genres and instruments along the way.
Almost psychic in their interplay, their beautiful vocal harmonies and complex rhythmic layers wrapped the room for a short while in a cocoon of energetic musical mania.
The couple of covers they played surely would have had the original songwriters nod and smile and clap with unbridled approval.
A tremendously talented band.

Support act Questionable Plays (augmented by Robin and Mike from Queenless Kings on bass and drums) proved again that they can hold an audience in the palm of their hands.
The faux-tenderness of two acoustic guitars gave way to a rocking repertoire of perfectly crafted songs which, with the addition of heavy bass and drums, at times channelled Simon & Garfunkel, if S&G had been raised on the sound of metal.
Near the end of their set, a beautiful shimmering instrumental was the perfect counterpoint to the frenetic energy that preceeded it.
If their forthcoming recording captures even a tenth of the musicality and intensity they exuded on Friday night, it will be a must-buy classic.
