Description

On a cold and icy night, 3 of the hotest bands on the Tralee music circuit took to the floor in Kerins O’Rahillys Club House ‘THE VENUE’ to showcase some of the best live music to be heard in Tralee. This is where the underground music scene of Tralee can be heard and seen.

Radio Lee Streaming Live Audio at Event
It was also a first for Radio Lee as we did our first live audio test stream of a music event in Tralee! Many thanks to the 10 people who joined us online for almost 2 hours of live music. Over time we will be refining our live event streaming skills and technology in an effort to bring you quality real-time audio-visual streaming!

The Hunter
First up was the soulful and smoothing sounds of ‘The Hunter’ – original music with influences of Folk, Alternative, Blues and Funky Afro-brazilian. Normally a 3-piece outfit who have being playing and recording for a few years now. Hailing from the West Coast of Ireland, lead singer Teresa Galvin has a very unique voice while Fionnuala Kennedy plays a massive double-bass and finally Stephanie Pawula is the 3rd member who plays all things rhythmically. They announced at the gig that they have plans for new recordings and release in 2023. So Radio Lee looks forward to this and who knows, perhaps an exclusive preview interview!

Next up in the line up is probably one of the most promising bands to come out of Kerry – Queenless Kings – The line up is Ryan Hurst, Robyn Clarke, Aaron Hutchinson and singer Michael Wagner. Interestingly, all are friends since childhood and come from Edenderry in Co. Offaly. However, they have based themselves for the last 10 years in Kerry. Queenless Kings are definitively worth seeing if you haven’t already done so. This is loud and proud, and bursting with energy.

The headline act on the night was Faux Mystic and the trip in the cold and ice was made all the worthwhile after seeing them perform. A dedicated and polished band that is flying the flag of local Kerry music. In their bio they state “our music is inspired and consists of elements of old school rock & blues, with groove, funk and a dash of jazz together to make something we like to call a “Faux Mystic” . We like to make catchy jingles along with experimental songs that tell stories without words.”

Rob Ellen interviews two members of of Faux Mystic live from his campervan just out the venue! A couple of acoustic numbers are also included.

Finally, a big thanks to everyone who came on the night and for all those who put in many hours of organisation behind the scene to make it happen. Be sure to check back with Radio Lee on future events in 2023.
