Yeah, officer
I ran that red light
And yes, officer
I was speeding
but I've got a
really good reason,
you see my broken
heart is bleeding
She called me up to say
that we were through,
and she was headed out of town
at a quarter to two.
There wasn't anything
that I could do,
I've got to get to her
before she's leaving ......
I'm gonna slow it down
I won't drive to fast
and I'll sit at each light
no matter how long it last,
But it's one-thirty-five
and soon my chance will pass,
I'd be grateful if you'd write me
that ticket real fast......

your lights and siren,

you right behind 'em,
She lives just around the block
but it's almost two o'clock,
we could get there
much faster then lightening...
Then that officer
just looked at me
and laughed out loud,
he said, "you must have
that kind of love
that does a man proud,"
He said, " There's only one thing
I can do for you son,
I'll pull her over for a safety check
and when I am done,
you can pull up behind her
and save your love on the run.
He gave me a warning
and said, "Have a nice day,"
and I caught up with
my baby before
she got away,
Then I poured out
my heart to her,
my eyes filled with tears.
and I promised I'd cherish her
for all of my years,
Than the next thing
I knew it was
a day worth forgetting,
and that Officer was the
best man at my wedding,
I went from
traffic court violations
that I'd broken twice,
to him giving me a ticket
to paradise,
back in her arms again,
my ticket to paradise.
