I love to sit outside and watch the rain
turning my world of pain into a blur...
praying for thunderous damnation
and a lightning bolts cremation,
a most fitting end for me I must concur.
Cause my thunderous damnation's
in a far off distant nation,
left a burning cavity
where children were.
When a target I mismanaged,
caused what's called
collateral damage,
and then an I.E.D.
disrupted my third tour.
I am only half a man,
in this wheelchair where I am,
left with little hope
to have a normal life,
all I knew below my waist,
has been permanently erased...
and I face no chance to
ever have a wife.
So I sit here unemployed
hoping that God will redeploy
me from this world that offers
nothing but a void....
haunted daily by the facts,
I killed children in an act,
of war that left pure
innocence destroyed.
There are many just like me,
home from war and doomed to be,
object lessons that nobody cares to see,
from that ugly side of war,
each left to wallow evermore
in the price we paid to
keep our nation free.
If I could only lose myself
in a job that I can't find,
I might be able to
contribute something more,
but I've spent four years chasing that,
offering little more than half,
of a young man whose
grown desperate and poor.
And so I sit outside and watch the rain
turning my world of pain into a blur...
praying for thunderous damnation
and a lightning bolts cremation,
a most fitting end for me I must concur.
