Mankind is anything but Kind
all of our history... recorded endless study
on just how bloody mankind has been
and the facts are rather ugly
since way back when Cain’s rage slew Able
up until today with the numbers so unstable
a murder occurred one half hour ago…..
multiplied by a murder every 30 seconds
every day, all year, Homicide,
the facts can’t be denied
facts can’t be denied
and what about suicide
one occurs daily
every thirteen minutes
what is it about life that
folks don’t want to be in it
what drives a man to kill himself
or murder others too,
leaving bloody trails
and evidence that gets them nailed
D.N.A. should stand for D-o N-ot A-ttempt
we shed it with every move we make
whether or not a life is spent
yet still society is constantly muddied
by acts that leave others bloodied.
Is it demons screaming into
the raging minds of those who kill?
or a breaking point for compassion?
when shooting, beating, choking and slashing
is the only solution, the next reaction
or is it just psychotic thrills?
Why do we have the capacity
with cold and cruel audacity
to ignore the depths of death’s gravity?
and abandon our normality
by committing such true savagery
could it really be insanity?
or a genetic depravity?
or is it folks who grow so panicky
that it dissolves in them the sanctity
of another human life?
due to their hatred or strife.
But the worst of it all... such bloody acts
is when children are slaughtered
so many boys and girls,
plus babies and toddlers
what brain synapses short out
causing mothers and fathers
to butcher their once precious sons
or bloody their dear daughters
plus pedophiles who lure
with harmless smiles
enticing children to go
with them for a while
down their long, last mile………
Mankind is anything but Kind
and we just can’t seem to find
a way to stop the endless killings
Justice truly must be blind
the jails are full of killers
but each day more rise to be
the newest members of society
to leave more folks bloodied.
Have the laws been far too lenient?
is there something more expedient
some yet untried ingredient
to put an end to those turned deviant
we could all be the recipients
of those far less obedient
to the law: “Thou Shall not Kill.”
perhaps someday there’ll be a pill
that destroys the part of every brain
that chooses to cause endless pain
a Med that helps all folks abstain
from choices to be inhumane
till no else will die in vain.....
And mankind will be kind again
