Considering the sundown
doesn’t take that long
all though it can
be so beautiful
as if the sky was
briefly set on fire
in vast orange and
yellow flames
to burn away the day
till the specks of stars
float like tiny white ashes
in the blackness
that remains.
so goes another tiny
portion of our lives
365 times a year
so many days
just disappear
without us even noticing
their passing
So burdened by life’s
tribulations
with our heads down
from the weight we bear
we seldom look up
to watch nightfall
heavily upon our backs
knowing soon enough
that sunrise
will come demanding
far more duties
so we ignore natures
sweet beauty
as it bids us rest
or brightens as we rise.
So tonight when I am busy
I will let my thoughts fall privy
to what I’ve failed to consider
as this eve’s sunset delivers
a scene that will make
my soul richer....
and perhaps when
sun rise comes around
out in my yard I will be found
to watch the birth of a new day
and then I will be on my way
to coffee, and a little toast
to sunshine’s beauty I love most
we should all pay heed to passings
before our own exits must come
feel the coolness of the evening
beneath the colors that all run
into the blackness that’s begun
or take an early rise to just surmise
the brilliant colors natures spun
and enjoy a new days entrance
warming you face in early sun
ya know it can be fun
when day’s begun
or days undone.
