I plucked that daisy,
though it drove me crazy,
ever optimistic
and yet realistic,
I pulled each petal free,
each one held a promise
for a doubting Thomas,
praying the last said....
that "She Loves me!"
Nature's fortune flower
granting mortals power
to discern what
love might yield,
in a vast green field
where the truth's revealed
with each soft
petal I peeled.
Round that sacred spot
past "she loves me not"
seven times plus seven more,
with my eyes half closed
to hide truth exposed
about a girl that I adored.
Chorus-
She was the flower
who graced the alleyways
of my dark and lonely days
all my hopes stemmed from
that petal yet to come,
as I pulled the rest away.
Alas that final ticket
bent in velvet white
left me standing there distraught,
Like a finger pointing
to my emptiness,
telling me..."She loves me not"
It was a long sad, walk
across that flowered meadow
to the bleakness I would face,
superstition based
on that single petal,
leaving hopes and dreams erased.
Bridge-
There were other girls
who blessed my heart,
cause I let the daisies lay,
sometimes it's truly better
not to know fate's path,
love is blind and that's okay.
Chorus-
She was the flower
gracing the alleyways
of my dark and lonely days
all my hopes stemmed from
that petal yet to come,
as I pulled the rest away.
Alas, that final ticket
bent in velvet white
left me standing there distraught,
Like a finger pointing to my emptiness,
telling me..."She loves me not"
telling me..."She loves me not"
