I am earthbound,
fourscore and ten or so
my sentence is not
mine to know
my flesh it is my prison
my shackles are just gravity
but my soul has not yet risen
All birds were blessed
with untamed flight
they sing their joy
throughout daylight
though their lives are brief
they all delight
in sailing high through
clouds of white
I’d give up ten
years of my life
to soar across
those endless heights
but being earthbound
is my plight
till I’m bound in earth
my flesh locked tight
in a coffin that is satin lined
like it matters,
bones cannot define
where they lie as they
turn into dust
the end of man
is so unjust
except for one fact
we can trust
our soul does not
remain with us.
It is the only
part of men
that is not earthbound
in the end
the skies the limit
when we die
above our cooling
flesh we’ll fly
free from all pain,
free from the whys???
The universe itself our prize!
but souls filled up
with evil hate
who made souls bleed
will greet the fate
of no sweet wings
to carry them
above the graves
they’re buried in
and from below their
coffins base
will come soul
suckers to erase
all traces of those
who dared debase
any precious soul
for their own gains
they will be dragged
far from the skies
screaming out their alibis
into an abyss of despair
earthbound forever
prisoners there
But when my time
comes I will fly
cause I lived my life
as a nice guy
and I’ll see you
on the other side
when your souls
all rise and say Goodbye-bye
to earthbound sighs
so keep your souls
all clean and white
and you’ll be freed
from earthbound cries.
