I am called "Solitude"
I bring your soul.... sad blue-oo-oo-ues,
I quietly intrude
while you just sit and brood
I can darken your mood
through lonely weeks accrued….
but I am also viewed
in ways that can allude
to feelings of gratitude
Sometimes we must escape
and take long, quiet breaks
and chose to not partake
in all the world’s mistakes
Bad politics unfixed,
cruel love with angry scripts,
the noise of endless lips,
the violence that inflicts,
mankind with endless R.I.P.’s
Take time to get a grip
I’ll be there when you slip
away from all that strips,
your hopes and joy from you.
Bathe in my solitude.
Baptized in my warm haze
as you just sit and gaze
back through fond memories
re-running…. thanks to me.
Till you can finally see
that I have set you free
to rejoin life refreshed,
where you at last can mesh
back in society
freed from anxiety.
Fleeing from privacy
to the variety
of humans everywhere.
Part of the human race
all rushing everyplace
some getting in your face
face them defiantly!!
Knowing that I will be
your shadow if you need
to hurry back to me.
I am your solitude
but I curse others too.
You’ll see me late at night
silhouetted in the light
of endless windows lit
by those who face the crap
that only I can zap,
all those who must escape
beneath my long, black cape
that I so gently drape
over what they can’t take,
until they all emerge
their souls and hearts
all purged.......
Of toxins they ingest
just trying to do their best
I am a welcome guest
till I become a pest
but I can offer rest
from all that they detest
to this I will attest,
cause I am solitude
I am solitude.
I offer all refuge
but they must pay the price
through lonely days and nights
till their dreams can take flight
and leave me with delight,
missing their company
but they need more than me.
This wraith called solitude
