I had a dream
a long time ago
that I'd go to places
I never dreamed I'd go
that I'd be something more
then I could ever hope to know
But I'm just a small part
of that saddest status quo
Broke my back over my guitar
trying to find that perfect path
so may nights full of empty frema
and my endless senseless wrath
women I loved who left me
women I left who loved me
and all the stars that I chased
are now hanging far above me.
Fame's a universe away
I'm just a meteor tumbling
burning inside with yearning
as I'm growing older stumbling
to that place of oblivion
forgotten evermore
can somebody please tell me
How I've always missed that door??
So it's back to my words
that have always brought hope
scattered thoughts gently gathered
the only way I can cope.
and perhaps i might happen
on a phrase or a line
beat that black cloud that dogs me
for all of my time
But if not this will be
my public testament
If I can't make it, then I'll take it
along with me when I'm spent
Bury all my songs with
every poem and C.D.
mayber I'll be discovered
in a few centuries
as my work is considered
great Arch-ae-ol-log-y-
Fame's a universe away
I'm just a meteor tumbling
burning inside with yearning
as I'm growing older stumbling
to that place of oblivion
forgotten evermore
can somebody please tell me
How I've always missed that door??
Where they'll showcase my dreams
from a long time ago,
where they'll take them to places
that I never dreamed they'd go
becoming so much more than
I'd ever hoped to know
No longer just another man in that
saddest staus quo,
But a future star rising
From a long time ago....
But a future star rising
From a long time ago...
