She'd always wanted to be a beauty queen,
the homeliest child that folks had ever seen
But she kept her faith in her only dream,
till Mother Nature made her a lovely teen,
Chorus-
Like an ugly duckling blossomed
into a swan that boys all wooed,
she was their laughing stock,
the girl that they all mocked
and now they whispered "I love you,"
But she'd raise her head on her graceful neck
and shake her bottom as she walked on past,
Just ignoring their lust as they ate her dust,
taking ganders at her lovely _ _ _ -(slide whistle)
She moved on to win 12 pageants,
and the Title of Miss U.S.A.
From a gawky girl who imagined
she would be a queen someday,
Then she married a man
who'd never mocked her face,
and they raised up 3 lovely babes,
plus a precious daughter,
homely as can be
but it didn't matter anyway.
Bridge-
She told her beauty
is only skin deep,
and beneath it
Nature plants its seeds,
seeds that hold the true you,
that'll blossom into
something lovelier
than beauty can be,
God has blessed you with,
intelligence and wit,
plus a heart never
cruel nor cold,
Darling, loveliness
is temporary bliss,
that will fade the
minute you get old.
Chorus-
Unlike ugly ducklings
turning into swans,
she never was a lovely teen,
but folks around our town,
even her friends all found,
she was the "Inner Beauty" Queen,
she charmed the boys
with what they seldom saw
in other girls more beautiful,
until she met a guy,
who was quite homely too
and shared love
straight from their souls.
they shared love straight
from their souls...........
