Just three or four basic chords
like the Rock and Roll
Stars used to play,
and maybe I'll be on my way,
to the charts where I can
make other folks days...
But we all know
how that story goes
in the current market
where our music goes
it gets lost in a long list
of ten million tunes
by musicians like me
trying to reach for that moon.
and that's the way it's got to be.
But I ain't given up
cause it's all that i've got
I'll work my fingers to the
bone for that radio slot
and maybe someday one
of my songs will be found
but i'll probably not be around.
I'll be a posthumous Rock star
Looking down from heaven above
and I'll go and ask God if it's possible
to feel all my fans love?
I guess for now that's
all I'm dreaming of.
Cause I've done so
many endless gigs
trying to make it BIG,
and at the end of the day
when nothing else comes my way
I just whisper" Go Fig?!"
They never said being a
songwriter is a gravy train
but it gets me to wondering
why I've got all these damn
songs in my brain?
cause i don't know if I'll
ever find fame.
But you know it's not a curse
others lead lives that are worse.
so I'll continue to rehearse
writing music and lyrical verse
and maybe someday I will burst
to the top of the charts
but I thank the Lord for giving me
this incredible art
and my songs have
helped me to woo
many beautiful girls
that told me "I Love You"
cause I wrote them a
song to touch their hearts
and it was so beautiful
till we had to part
but I was grateful to have
known them from the start
Thanks to my God-Given art.
I guess that's what
songwriting is for
Just reaching out
and touching some souls
till love takes control...
that's why songwriting's
been my favortie goal
which helps relieve my fears
that I might wind up
a posthumous star,
but it won't matter then...
because....
it still got me so far.......
