cherished and so influential
it has grown in many layers
over all the years we’ve spent.

of all we did and where we went
reaching deeply to the core
of our hearts that we both lent
to finding joys life left undreamt

through our love we have been schooled
that when you mix up tenderness
and eagerly include
respect for two souls

it brings such lovely moods
where all the woes of other loves
would never dare intrude.
Each new year adds many layers
that climb higher in our favor
such love offers joys to savor
as we both serve as curators
to a monument, a testament
that true love’s sweet behavior
eliminates the pain some share
it reaches to the heavens
bringing bliss with little labor
as it was meant by our creator
And when we layer flesh on flesh
to share the pleasures love can grant
We see the hunger in our eyes
to promise and then compromise
and never say we can’t
leading to some angry rant.
And soon enough a seed will bloom
bringing carbon copies to your womb
of all we are and all they’ll be
learning from us to love tenderly
all creatures great and small
each race and creed and never fall.
Into the vast pit hatred brings
supported by our layerings
of love and sentimental joy
re-birthed in tiny girls or boys.
As all who wed should strive for this
and bring less sorrow and more bliss
it is so easy to love more
and cherish all that it stands for
Let generations build a path
that rises over all men’s wrath
and leads to peace across the earth
from layers built with love and mirth
