Mankind’s Greatest Asset.
We as humans
have been gifted
with a treasure that
has so often uplifted,
weary souls from the mire
easing hearts that have tired
from life’s cruel pains acquired
Bad moods are sifted
by synapses transmitted
in the depths of our brains
till no sorrow remains
this process it blesses
and quickly addresses
our needs for defenses
by reducing our stresses.
it is worth more than
any money can buy
It is something we want to
seek and never deny
even the poorest of folks
are made richer, less broke
with the bliss it invokes
It’s not a drug that’s addictive
but it cures those afflicted
whether holy or wicked.
And it doesn’t come often
with it’s powers to soften
the hard edges of life
and it cannot be bought
it’s for all those who have
and for those who have not
It brings peace all have sought
to their faces left taut.
By the deep lines of worry
erasing them in a hurry
It comes with a love
that is shared by just two
who are so very certain
that what they feel is true
A love that’s deeply imbued
It comes with a wail
from a tiny inhale
after new flesh emerges
and is cradled by nurses
and then placed tenderly
in the arms of Mommies
who gaze into the eyes
of life’s greatest surprise
It is found most in children
While they’re still innocent
to the pains of the world
that they haven’t yet spent
as they dance with great glee
run and play eagerly,
embracing each day
in their happiest ways,
while adult plod on by
watching them with a sigh
filled with memories that loe
waiting to once again
feel its pure pleasures fly
in the depths of their own hearts
giving them its sweet high......
It’s what we call deep joy
it’s that feeling we worship
that fills all with sweet hope
in the laughter it churns up
and it’s never forgotten
long after it burns up
It is something we chase
till the end our days
cause in so many ways
it helps hold at bay
those cruel feelings
called sorrow
that will haunt our tomorrows
till it comes round again
like a long lost, old friend.
Allowing our lips to bend
at least for just a while
in a most lovely smile
filling our dreams with hope
helping all of us cope
Deep joy is a gift
that builds a needed bridge
over all of earth’s woes
deep joy’s what we love most.
Celebrate it whenever you can
it is one of the greatest gifts
God gave to man
it’s a most lovely plan
that helps ease life’s demands.
