Description

Marilyn and Joe.

Marilyn and Joe were an enigma
Both trapped in that show business stigma,
of a most famous Hollywood love,
she had the utmost of beauty
he was the King of the diamond he graced,
setting records no one could replace
but never finding what
they both dreamed of.

Chorus-

Here was a love that was made in heaven
Something precious that all men would crave,
But Joe couldn’t handle the peddling
Making his sex goddess, a Hollywood slave,
So he lost the one girl he would cherish,
In a game of love he couldn’t save,
Where a hit wouldn’t win her,
And a walk would be grimmer
As his grand slam love just slipped away
but for all of the rest of his days,
he left a red rose on her grave.

He wanted a housewife,
she wanted the glamour
That a movie stars life brought her way…..
and He yelled at directors
and raised such a clamor,
that they suspended her roles without pay.

She was the world’s best known Icon,
While Joe wound up hustling Mr. Coffee,
he was a hit on the field, but with her…he wouldn’t yield,
so she whispered goodbye to him softly.
she whispered goodbye to him softly.

She died all alone in her bedroom
Long after their sweet love had faded,
Addicted to pills as her age slowly killed
All her Hollywood dreams …left her jaded
Joe smoked himself into cancer
And he died when he was eighty-four,
Years of looking back sadly
At a love turned out badly,
Till old Jolting Joe was no more.
Jolting Joe was no more.

Here was a love made in heaven
Something precious that all men would crave,
But Joe couldn’t handle the peddling
making his sex goddess, a Hollywood slave,
So he lost the one girl he would cherish,
In a game of love he couldn’t save,
Where a hit wouldn’t win her,
And a walk would be grimmer
As his Grand slam love just slipped away
but for all of the rest of his days,
he left a red rose on her grave.

A tribute of love to his long-ago bride,
You’ll still find a red rose up on her grave,
For his true love that he couldn’t save.

Marilyn and Joe ...an enigma
it's another part of
that Hollywood stigma
that goes on and on and on
long after they both were gone......

oh, the love
Marilyn and Joe
something few of us know
something few of us know......
