He's a bachelor button-ed
in a bar room's back booth
sipping several pain killers
mixed with vermouth,
Just a Jack-In-A-Pulpit
with no women to reach,
cause love is a skill
that he's yet learned to teach.
She's life's Black-Eyed Susan,
far too often abused,
an ex-wife grown Mum,
from times she'd been used.
A rose not yet blossomed
still seeking a bud,
whose Ex- gave new meaning
to the title bad blood.
Chorus-
Two wallflowers stuck
in their solitary vases,
always going home lonely,
but still haunting those places,
where wallflowers often
find roots and become,
a bouquet of two in
the arms of someone......
Two lonely wallflowers.
He'd noticed her sitting
all alone as he gazed,
around a bar that held little
of the love that he craved,
he could see she'd been wounded,
so he sent her a drink
with a note as a chaser...
to a gal on the brink.
That note simply said,
"I'm as lonely as you,
but the gentleman in me
doesn't want to intrude,
still I'm hoping that we,
could just talk for a while,
share an hour or two
with some drinks
and some smiles."
Chorus-
Two wallflowers stuck
in their solitary vases,
always going home lonely,
but still haunting those places,
where wallflowers often
find roots and become,
a bouquet of two
in the arms of someone......
two lonely wallflowers
Much later that night
in a booth shared by two,
her faith in mankind
once again was renewed,
by his gentle approach
and his need to just talk,
as two souls both took flight
from their long weary walks.
Chorus-
Two wallflowers freed
from their solitary vases,
still going home alone,
but with smiles on their faces,
knowing wallflowers too
can find roots and become,
a bouquet of two
in the arms of someone.......
two loving wallflowers
....two loving wallflowers
