First love
like your first cigarette
it starts off hot
then burns down slow
with a racing heart
it steals your breath
they’re a lot alike you know.
Gracing your lips
and fingertips
with smoking hot desires
requiring a gentle grip
as you savor passions fires.
Your first girl is the filter
for your masculinity
she gives a sweet
and smoother taste
and sets your tension free.
they both tease addictively.
Soon cravings will consume you
to have more of it each day
but whether nicotine
or sweet perfume
there’s a price you have to pay
First loves are just a sampling
a glimpse of what’s to be,
a lesson for your younger years
a love they call “Puppy”
And cigarettes briefly address
Life’s cruel anxieties
but soon enough they bring duress
cause you can’t let them be.
They’re full of similarities
they both keep you compelled
but first loves usually fade away
they will not harm your health.
So if I had my druthers
over smokes or first-time lovers.
I‘d choose to skip the nicotine
for a girl whose like no other.
Who will guide me
through my innocence
and give me much to cherish
over cigarettes that might bring me
too many ways to perish!
