Description

Life can be a paper jam
leaving you stuck over important plans,
it might all go in the shredder
and your dreams can take a header
into the file called circular,
I never was a worshipper
of printed thoughts,
the inspirations in one’s head
can be lost in the translation fed
from printers cheaply bought......

....that jam papers where you poured out
what love or sorrows all about
reduced from sheer epiphany
into crumpled piles of confetti
when what you think is bled in ink
Its brilliance sometimes slips.
its nuances on readers lost.
words jammed on paper can’t accost,
or woo your fans down paths you’ve crossed,
or move souls past the meaning lost,
thoughts must come from your lips.

Expressed with fingertips and hands
letters do not meet what art demands,
inflection does not grace the page,
what’s printed cannot shout the rage,
only vocalizing into mikes
with sharp diction and smooth sound bites,
brings passion print cannot ignite,
where listeners find sweet delight..

Do not imprison genius thoughts
on Wal-mart paper, cheaply bought
find a café and do a reading,
expose your soul and leave them needing,
the words your lips are freely bleeding,
in their fallow minds you’re
thoughts are seedlings,
anything less is just conceding.

and the only paper jams you’ll find
when you leave your printed words behind
will be flung in your hat or your guitar case
as they offer you cash and their thank you’s grace
what mere printed words cannot replace.

(instrumental)

Or put it to music and wail it out
what’s sung to crowds has far more clout
performance art is what it’s all about
save your printed words till your retired
where the crowds you
wowed are more inspired,
by what you did
when you were wired
to amplifiers setting fires
in the souls of listeners who desired
all the thoughts you shared
that their souls required.

Libraries are filled with papers jammed
and bound in books and sadly damned,
to gather dust, left seldom scanned
I know this is not what you planned.

Bring your thoughts to life
in café’s or bands,
let your paper jams
be cash in hand. $$$$$$$- : )
