Do we earn the spurn
of a lover's sneer,
or is it merely a
thinning of the skin
over the soul of
one we cherished,
allowing love to escape?
What we don't
say will haunt us,
behind teeth that squat
like tombstones,
holding back the spirits,
of our petrified tongues.
Our palettes lie empty,
all of the colors lost
in what was left unsaid.
The soul of our love
remains caged in ribs,
a prisoner of
our own silence,
as we watch
hope walk
sadly away.
We stand helpless
strait-jacketed,
Helen Keller's
struggling to describe
a lovely butterfly,
to an empty room.
Do not let love
tie your tongue,
or seal two lips,
meant to be four,
into a tight line
of dismay pressed.
Let chance dance
across thoughts
freely expressed,
love lies waiting
but a few uttered
words away.
Let loneliness remain
pressed between the jaws
of a silent scream,
trapped forever in
the emptiness of
what we don't say.
Is love truly everlasting
trapped in the
mummified remains
of centuries old dead.
Exhumed and sent airborne
from the dust of their dreams,
only to be inhaled later
by generations who
eventually become allergic
to its pollination?
What is that
velvet hammer
that sends hearts
into a state of being
impaled together,
but then torn asunder
by the gentlest whim
or the fancy of another.
Love is but
a shallow brook
babbling sweet nothings
over the wallows
of loneliness,
one is swept away
then wept away,
leaving only dry beds
empty of what was
once liquid and warm.
Do we earn the spurn
of a lover's sneer,
or is it merely a
thinning of the skin
over the soul of
one we cherished,
allowing love to escape?
Let chance dance
across your thoughts
freely expressed,
love lies waiting
but a few uttered
words away.
Lest loneliness remain......
pressed between the jaws
of a silent scream,
trapped forever in
the emptiness of
all your dreams and
what you don't say.
Do not let love
tie your tongue,
nor seal two lips,
meant to be four,
into a tight line
of dismay pressed.
Let love flow
through your souls
and you will both be blessed
you'll both be blessed.
