The vocal and lyrical version below is a Demo

Long ago
before our time
in a place we’ve
never known
there was a
lovely queen
who sat happily
upon her throne
all of the kingdom
worshipped her
they also loved
her peaceful king
and each of them
bowed down to kiss
his ruby ring

Her life it was
a dream come true
she’d never want
for anything
She had two
beautiful daughters
and three most
handsome of sons
and one of them
would be the heir
when his father’s
rule was done

"The palace
was incredible
it held one
hundred rooms
each dinner
was a vast buffet
they delectably
consumed
as a royal band
played tunes....."

But she had no
way of knowing
it would all be
gone real soon
One day a plague
appeared among
the peasants
that she ruled
as hundreds
of them
fell and died
and each
were buried
in mass graves
long before their
bodies cooled...........

The Queen
thought it would
save the palace
but death
is far too cruel
inch by inch
it breached
the castle walls
so very thick
till the king fell ill
to her dismay
and her children
all grew sick
mercifully they
all died quick

So she ordered
up a shovel
for her dear ones
who had perished
it was hammered
out of solid gold
to bury those
she cherished
in special,
single graves
far from the
peasants that
she couldn’t save
while all her subjects
death brought down
were just tossed
together in
the ground
those shovels
made an awful sound
that people heard
for miles around

But eventually
the queen got sick
there was little
she could do
she ruled an
empty kingdom
she’d lost all her
loved ones too
all alone she prepared
her own grave
when she fell very ill
and she used that tool
that she’d had made
to dig a tomb
she wouldn’t fill
no earth would
cover her remains
no earth would
cover her remains

She wore her finest
gown as she
laid down
inside that hole
and then she
ceased to be
no longer
famous royalty
death equalizes
everything
reduced like all
her peasantry
to a body in a hole

And when they
finally found her
as the Plague at
last subsided
her hands clutched
that golden shovel
and it was then
that they decided
though she had been
called the Queen Mary
she’d divorced all
those she’d buried
thousands left
common graves
as well as all the
men that dug them
It was really
quite repugnant
Oh, how the
people raved

So the stone where
she was laid
was deeply
inscribed
on thick slate
with a name change
that they all had made
as the chiseler wrote
what her tomb
would say:

"This humble
grave contains
all that is left......
of the callous
Queen of Spades"

That’s why she’s
only known today
in decks of cards
we use to play
our games of
five card poker
and she is
welcomed
where she lays
in hands dealt us
with three jokers
but otherwise
she is unknown
buried deep beneath
a common stone
her name eroded
by the ages
it won't be found
in histories pages
for Mary….
