"War Spelled Backwards Is Raw which it is
bloody and flesh destroying and sadly even
the name soldier contains the word die."
"Pray often For peace. "

This is my requiem,
your requiem,
our requiem,
for all of the heroes
who died for just causes
running into battles
without any pauses.

Destroying those
who would destroy
and then getting
caught in the jaws
of an agonizing death,
whispering their
love to thier mothers
or their wives
with their last breath.

Some still in
steamy jungles,
some lie deep
beneath the sea,
some were swallowed
by the desert dunes.

They all were left
in lonely tombs
and they died for
you and me
for our liberty.

It doesn’t matter
what country
or our political beliefs,
they took the
bullets for us
they saved us
from our grief.
of being occupied
to be a dictator's
sad slaves.

But these heroes
all said “No”
and they went to
kill the bastards
who had sought
to be our masters.

Through smoke and flame
and bombs that burst
they kept on running
through the worst.

And though
many of them
came Back home
and I applaud
their sacrifice,
this requiem's
for all of those
who died and
were left alone
forever on their own.

No graves to mark
those hallowed spots
were bones lay exposed
cold and stark,
nature returned them
to the sand or
in the deep
or beneath soil
till nothing that
remained was
remains.

We must be vigilant
in honoring their toils
their souls were sent
to just rewards,
long before flesh
was spoiled.

As families
remember them,
we must remember
them too
take time from
all your busy days
your barbeques
and times at play,
T
ake pause and let
your minds recall
that for your freedoms
they took falls
and never rose again.

And tell this to
your children!

This is my requiem,
your requiem,
our requiem,

For all of the heroes
who died for just causes
running into battles
without any pauses....

For those who deserved
so much more
who never made
it home from war
never made it
home from war
Never made it
home from war......
