Rise up
as one voice
with one choice
please the masses
as your voice passes
over the rich and poor,
and middle classes
speak your mind
and never mind
what you speak
silence is not golden
it’s a stone face
not critiqued
and write righteously
make an alpha-bet
gamble your words
and win the prize
write something visionary
that will forever tarry
in readers hungry eyes.
Then rise up
and cry for free verse
it’s been imprisoned
far too long
following the dictates
of society
it isn’t free if it is
bound in loose leaf
stapled in folders
store with files
it cannot use to escape
boxing it in rhyme.
rhythm and form
it has been locked up
serving its sentences
in tight lipped
politically correct
Brain cells forever.
Words are meant be
a bubbling brook
flowing from a gravelly throat
and then shrieked
from the top of
a café chair
Over steaming cups of
latte-fucking-dah
Make ‘em Crap-a-chino
give em chaos
rabid rants spewed with
venom or passion
brain freeze
and mouths agape
from all your words
once stacked like
Marilyn Monroe
and now loosened
over the bland faces
abandoning their cell phones
for the text your mouth
punctuates their unused
eardrums with.
Make ‘em think ink
bleed adjectives
and hack up dangling participles
Make it Pro-etry
stand like a God and chastise
those humbled around you
skewer the world’s woes
on the point of
your uncapped pen
and roast them
over the coals
in your soul.
Rise up
it's time
it's way past time
free your mind
free your soul free your voice
free your poetry!
Rise up stand tall
free verse be adverse
Obverse, reversed
conversational and yet
intensely unique.
otherwise why even
bother to speak
Anything else is
just nonsense scribbled
on he pounded
ground up pulp
of some trees
you never climbed!
Rise up
surprise yourself
scare the hell
out of your muse
he's been abusing you
for far too long
send him a letter of resignation
and let him ponder that awhile.
Rise up, break the molds
sing from your heart,
not your diaphragm.
true music needs
no staff to contain it
you are it’s boss
bust it loose
and wail, and woo,
and astound
the listeners ears
abandon all genre
create your own
monstrosity
who feeds on
audiences adoration!
Rise up
you've been
asleep too long
Writers must gather
together and right
what is wrong.
Rise up and
offer something
earth shattering
or just sit down
and wait for
that light bulb
over your humbled head
to click on..............
then rise up and shine!!!
