I have witnessed many rituals
some were horribly habitual
My dear son was born with O.C.D
and there was nothing I could do
non-medically to set him free
from obsessions and compulsions
he was endlessly redoing
so many things …so many times
with no control over his mind
which made him weary all the time....
then pills his next prescribed ritual
came bearing the residuals
of quite often ugly, side effects
and far too soon his life was wrecked.
so he just got high to get away
and so he’s been in rehab
two years now…. since yesterday
will he start up new drug rituals
if I bring him home to stay??
yet I miss him in so many ways
but all that I can do is pray.
all that I can do is pray.
There are so many
terrible rituals
folks practice every day
the worshipping of Satan
thinking they will get their way
offering sacrifices to a beast
who will soon sacrifice them
he demands his pound of flesh
every time that they entice him
thinking he will grant their wishes
selling their souls to get it done
But their joy is brief and
they’ll come to grief
when they see Hell's demons come
and they have no where to run….
And I bleed for those who practice
rituals to worship God
he despises repetitious prayers
and other repetitious acts
He’d much rather they
would spend their time
helping those in need… left strapped
it’s stated in the bible
But their blind to its denial
which keeps them thinking
that they are more entitled.
But they're not!
Other fanatics butcher souls
who don’t believe
from some man-made
false recitals
using three planes
to kill thousands
all for God…. but suicidal
but our bodies are God’s temple
to keep them safe is truly vital.
and there is no room in heaven
for any soul that chooses hate
but alas they have to die before
they realize….. too late
that false rituals written by men
brought them a terrible fate
And the ritual of going to war
every time some leader's pissed
serves to kill off all the young souls
putting those innocents
in endless holes
while all those
making war are missed.
Endless dictators in rages
spilling blood on histories pages
War should be left to the sages
who’ll find other ways of waging
restitution for two sides
so that no young men will die
it way past the time that we should try
to end rituals of making war
and later wondering tragically
what we were fighting for.
Since that distant time
when man began
there’ve been rituals
for every plan
chants and drumbeats
and wild dances
sending the young
to take their chances
only to fall beneath a beast
or die because another tribe
needed enemies for their feast...
Nothing ritual is sweet
it all becomes habitual
and leaves men no retreat
but if love could become ritual
for every individual
perhaps we could find peace
and end useless defeat.
Love is the only ritual
that keeps us indivisible
each kiss or hug or showing care
makes all of mankind sweet
but it makes my soul just bleed
at all the rituals that feed
those endless war Drums beats
where love cannot compete.
Only love can cure hate's heat
It’s time such rituals were banished
till all suffering has vanished
and That’s all I’ve got for you
my Humble words are through
lest they too become a ritual
so share this message oh, so true
