Septembers angels
help to ease
all of the green leaves
from this world
carrying them off
in rainbow colors
through October
and November
where they soon
will be rendered
into mulch to
make things grow
when spring comes
round again
as each winter fades
to way back when
and summer calls again
like an old friend
September's
angels comfort
all of those who’ve lost
the sweetness of
summer romances
they bandage
wounded souls
and point the eyes
of those left sad
to future chances
that will be found
throughout the fall
at back home parties
and at school dances
long after texting from afar
receives no answers.
September’s angels
guard all the children
as they’re heading
back to school
seeing that they
arrive safely
their sacred duties daily are
to protect the innocents
that God loves most
they can’t be seen
they are like
tiny holy ghosts
miniature shields against
the evils of the world
September’s angels
are just one
of twelve ways
natures fulfills
all the needs of
earths dear creatures
to adapt to nature’s will
nature shares love
by the dozen
months that
endlessly keep coming
giving reasons
to the seasons
bringing moments
oh, so pleasing
even in the bitter winter
nature’s loving is not hindered
tiny children's cheeks aglow
make snow angels
we all know
and those snow
angels encourage
all the little ones to go
bundled up
against the cold
out into the world so white
and toss snowballs with delight
on a fun and frigid fight
or enjoy the speedy thrills
of riding sleds down icy hills
when ones’ laughing
there’s no chills
Say hello to every angel
when you bask
in lovely splendor
of another fine September
it’s for you that
they remember
to comfort you
when love is lost
each summer romance
comes with cost
and take a moment
just to pause
as the leaves
begin their falls
to be awed by
their bright colors.
and know your
children are protected
by September angels
God selected
as Nature daily
does it’s duties
of bringing
everyone the beauty
of the changes
that it brings
