SHADOWS
In the deepest shadows of my heart
many cobwebbed, memories linger
spun by webs of grief or pain or doubt
silk wrapped loves, each trapped in rigor
crumbling carcasses drained of their vigor
with all the reasons why..... left unfigured
And in the shadows of my soul
lies one wing tightly folded
that once flew together
with another wing
till true love was eroded.
Imploded, exploded
Once devoted, now demoted
over some forgotten motive
Selfish love is simply trying to fly
on one wing above a canyon
but you tumble into loneliness
losing you precious companion
whether beautiful of handsome
leaving tandem wings abandoned
leaving tandem wings abandoned.
Then in the shadows of your mind
lie deep regrets for what you lost
eternal scars that mar the hopes
of shared dreams that all were squashed
Fading love’s come with a cost
and a cold shoulder that gleams with frost
they lie dormant in your thoughts
but they sometimes come to haunt
with hard lessons you’ll be taught
Shadows follow you......
when things are bright
but they are still there in the night
you just can’t see their darkness cast
but they can’t be shaken, lost or trashed
all things are shadowed, unabashed
they stretch and shrink and come up fast
in front, sideways….. behind you
your shadow always stays attached.

side by side a perfect match
perhaps they too love just like you
and they too can be detached
when true love is dispatched
