Description

Was It only an eternity ago
Lying in flowered meadows
your eyes stirring my soul
as we broke from a kiss
and you gazed up at me
with sweet adoration and bliss

What a painting that
scene would have made
brushed with all of love's highlights
in that sun-dappled glade
but my hands always quivered
and awkwardly bent
in sorrow at each failed attempt
and time made the colors all fade.

Why must Innocence always be cherished
when it's long past it's drifting away
we laughed and we clung
in that early spring sun
so very sure that we would share
endless day~~~~~
endless days

Soon you sat down behind me
gently weaving each daisy
in chains through my
shoulder-length hair
For I was a flower child
and you, my fair maiden
paying tribute
woven with care

Why can innocence only be cherished
when it's long past its slipping away
how we laughed and we clung
in that early spring sun
so very sure that we would share
endless days~~~~~
endless days~~~~~

Me strolling boldly through
the masses around
while flaunting my crown
made of daisies you'd bound
of which none of the crowds had a clue
because they only saw you
~~~~~only saw you.
Bell-bottomed, blonde-haired Goddess
so ravishingly beautiful
descending to bless my life briefly
over an eternity ago~~~~~~~~
Why must Innocence always be cherished
when it's long past it's drifting away
how we laughed and we clung
in that early spring sun
so very sure that we would share
endless days~~~~~
endless days~~~~~
