Strange Paths?
I have walked down
many strange paths
not found on any maps
and there was no other
way that I could pass
each one was
like shooting craps
weaving through
various traps
with no going back….
I have no idea why they
were laid out before me
none of them led
to fame or glory
yet some act of fate
put them there
on that date
but I’m still here
to tell my story
One path led
to my death!!??
ever so suddenly
in the service
of my country
an angry soul
attacked me
snuck up behind me
and put me in a
naked strangle hold
locked in that
terrible choke
and then my strange
path appeared
as it became clear
that I was dying
and my soul floated
high above my body
looking down on
what was left
bereft but calm
and pain free
till another soul
intervened
and my soul was
flung back in me
My soul was
flung back in me
but now I know
that death will be
just a step higher
and far more
peaceful than here.
on a stranger path
most have not yet taken .
I have trudged
through poverty
that led to me
being left homeless
on a strange
and hungry path
that left me
suffering aloneness
no one cared,
no one condoned this
I struggled
bent and broken
till at last I found
atonement
in some minimum wage
and an angry rage
at societies disownment.
I have taken
journeys into love
that led me
to a lovely face
my heart and feet
were floating
from this happiness
I chased
but I stumbled
on a stranger path
that led to a dead end
till my lover
was a stranger
who would not
even be my friend.
why does good love
have to end
My paths crossed
with a lady
who was soon
to have a baby
the strangest path
I ever walked
I had no chance
to even balk
I calmed her down
with nervous talk
till both our fears
were all for naught
the baby came
out on its own
in perfect health
through endless moans
I learned some
things I’d never known
A young Marine
far from my home
and later I sat
filled with awe
on that stranger path
from what I saw.
You can study all
the paths you take
but each journey
all comes down to fate
with no where to run
or just forsake
where its taking you
or what awaits
tread carefully
and then embrace
those strange paths
that will sometimes grace
each member of
the human race
you were meant
to be there in that place
sharing memories
that you can’t erase
strange paths are
lessons we’ll all face.
so go with flow
and know that you
will find strange paths
till your life through.
cause there’s little
you can do…
it’s all a part of
our daily life loads
so just keep on walking
till you find a brighter road.
till you find a brighter road…..
