Out of all of the
women I have known
there are five that
I have cherished most
and this song
It is my special toast
to each and every one of them
for all the love
they showed me
and the smiles that they
bestowed so eagerly
upon my face
that even now
I can’t erase
The first dear lady
was the one who
truly made me who I am
till I became a man
and she taught me about love
in ways that
I could understand
and she, of course
is my own Mom
whom I could
always depend on
whose life and love
to quickly wound up gone
I was with her when
her spirit it moved on
her uncompromising love
was what most kids
only dream of
And I miss her in
the twenty-six years
since she left, I guess
I’ll always be bereft……

Next of course are
my three sisters
even though one
left me bitter
for how she treated
our dear mother
she was nice,
when she was younger
but her poverty and hunger
made her do
things to survive
but they left
my mom deprived.
which I can’t ever forgive
no matter how I try
But she’ll always be my sister
on that fact she can rely
And the second one
was my best friend
we played together
way back when….
we both were growing up
and she's still my
best friend to this day
in oh, so many ways

And my other sis was older
there wasn’t much
that I could show her
cause she’d already
seen so much more
But I am so glad just to know her
even now each time I hold her
though there were times
I could have choked her
but of course I never told her.
Then of course
my fondest lady
who graced my life
with so much love
Was my precious
wife named Judy
My closest friend
since we both newly
became a couple
who are truly
dedicated to the
lives we’ve shared
even when I made
her mad she cared
But I held her when
things came to scare
or wound her heart so unprepared
like when her mother died
a soul on which my wife relied
so very much that
the sheer absence
of her touch and her sweet voice
Left my wife long
nights when she cried
and even when
we lost our puppies
so very terribly and abruptly
we still had each other too hold
we’ll be together endlessly
our years now
married...... Forty three
She is the only one for me
and I’m the only one for her
on this we both concur
and I’m sure each of you out there
who hear this song can also share
the five gals who you cherish most
and so I’ll add you to my toast.
